This core group, made of members from the airlines, leading hotels, convention centres, tour operators, travel agents, professional conference organisers, state tourism development corporations and other organisations providing ancillary services plays a pivotal role in any major event of this nature in the country. </div><div><br /></div><div>The mounting opportunities for holidays and leisure have made India one of the leading venues for MICE. The MICE infrastructure in the country has been developing rapidly and convention hotels and conference venues of international standards are being set up in cities across the country. With the corresponding expansion in the network of airline operations, India is ready to position and market itself as an important MICE destination. The prime focus of the ICPB is to disseminate information regarding the infrastructural facilities and related services available in India for organising meetings, incentives and conventions and also to assist the tourism industry to effectively market the MICE potential of India internationally. Overseas participants at the Conclave also had an opportunity to join the tours on offer to give them an opportunity to inspect the infrastructural facilities and view the dazzling diversity of India with its colours, tastes and the unique aromas. It also acted as an excellent platform for participants from many different but related disciplines to interact, seek information and share experiences.</div><div><br /></div><div>In order to strengthen the brand positioning of `Incredible India’ as a MICE destination, buyers from overseas were invited to meet with suppliers from India’s MICE industry and experience the product themselves. Attending the meet this year were also a slew of large multi-national and trans-national corporations who had an interest in improving their meeting-related purchasing. The Conventions India Conclave is the country’s only marketing event of its type for the MICE industry. </div>Shaji Palolliyilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10265424326623627905noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4488385117787048372.post-10166649855298187342010-08-10T07:32:00.000-07:002010-10-31T07:37:41.660-07:00India Tourism lures Japanese visitors with Hyderabadi Food Festival<div>India Tourism, Tokyo got together with Jet Airways, Ashok Chain of Restaurants and Roko Group to give the citizens of Tokyo a flavour of one of India’s finest culinary experiences with the ‘Hyderabadi Food Festival’ from 15th to 31st August, 2010. The festival was launched on Independence Day by Mr. H.K. Singh, Ambassador of India, in the presence of Mr. Saito, Advisor, Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA). </div><div><br /></div><div>A major promotion for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi was also made. Riding parallel to the duration of the festival was an open seminar / promotion organised in co-ordination with M/s TCI and M/s Club Tourism. The event was attended by over 150 people and door prizes on offer included free air tickets, restaurant coupons, Indian handicrafts and lots more. The Hyderabadi Food Festival was inspired by the very popular India Food Fair held in Hotel Okura, Tokyo in July in association with the Taj Group of Hotels. Indiancuisine has found much favour amongst the people of Japan and festivals such as these are proving to be an excellent marketing tool for India as a holiday destination. </div>Shaji Palolliyilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10265424326623627905noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4488385117787048372.post-18596736110127783112010-06-22T10:11:00.000-07:002010-10-31T07:19:27.730-07:00Indian Tourism offices abroad<div><b>New York ( United States of America )</b></div><div>Mr. P Rangarajan, Assistant Director, </div><div>Indiatourism </div><div>1270, Avenue of Americas , </div><div>Suite 1808 , 18th Floor , New York 10020 USA . </div><div>Phone : +1-212-586-4901/ 4902 /4903, </div><div>Fax : +1-212-582-3274, </div><div>E-mail: ny@itonyc.com,</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Los Angeles ( United States of America ) </b></div><div>Mr Sanjiv Vasihist , </div><div>Assistant Director, Indiatourism </div><div>3550 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 204 , </div><div>Los Angeles , California 90010 2485 USA . </div><div>Phone: +1-213-380-8855. </div><div>Fax : +1-213-380-6111, </div><div>E-mail : indiatourismla@aol.com ,goitola@aol.com</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Milan ( Italy ) </b></div><div>Mr G C Bhuyan </div><div>Manager, Indiatourism </div><div>Via-Albricci 9. </div><div>Milan 20122 , Italy . </div><div>Phone: +39-2-8053506. </div><div>Fax : +39-2-72021681, </div><div>E-mail: info@indiatourismmilan.com , director@indiatourismmilan.com<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div><br /></div><div><b>London( United Kingdom )</b></div><div>Mr. Jagdish Chander ,</div><div>Director</div><div>Indiatourism </div><div>7 Cork Street , London WIS 3LH. </div><div>Phone : +44-207-4373677, 7346613 </div><div>Fax : +44-207-4941048, </div><div>E-mail: london5@indiatouristoffice.org </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Toronto ( Canada )</b></div><div>Mr. Ronjon Lahiri,</div><div>Director,</div><div>Indiatourism </div><div>60 Bloor Street, West Suite 1003 , </div><div>Toronto , M4 W3, B8, Canada . </div><div>Phone : +1-416-962-3787 / 3788, </div><div>Fax : +1-416-962-6279, </div><div>E-mail : info@indiatourismcanada.ca <isinfo@indiatourismcanada.ca></isinfo@indiatourismcanada.ca></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Dubai ( United Arab Emirates )</b></div><div>Mr.T W Sudhakar, </div><div>Regional Director (In Charge), </div><div>Indiatourism</div><div>Post Box 12856, NASA Building, </div><div>AL Maktoum Road , Deira, Dubai , UAE. </div><div>Phone: +971-4-2274848, 2274199. </div><div>Fax : +971-4-2274013, </div><div>E-mail:goirto@eim.ae, goirto@emirates.net.ae</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Frankfurt (Germany) </b></div><div>Mr. M.N Javed , </div><div>Regional Director, </div><div>Indiatourism </div><div>Basler Strasse 48, D-60329, </div><div>Frankfurt, AM-MAIN 1, Federal </div><div>Republic of Germany. </div><div>Phone : + 49-69-2429490, 24294927 </div><div>Fax : + 49-69-24294977, </div><div>E-mail: office@india-tourism.com</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Johannesburg (South Africa) </b></div><div>Mr. T.W.Sudhakar, </div><div>Director, </div><div>Indiatourism </div><div>P.O. There are three types of eco-hotels and resorts. That are one with nature in their location and promote nature related activities. Others that ensure their property leaves as few footprints on the environment as possible by having water recycling plants, undertaking rainwater harvesting measures and other methods of conserving electricity and water. A few others that go the extra distance by sustaining the environment, people and the ethos of the city they are in.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.orchidhotel.com/">The Orchid - Mumbai</a>, a five-star hotel started 12 years ago as an ecotel, it was constructed as an ‘economy hotel’. The concept of an environment-friendly hotel was absolutely alien to Indian travellers then. Today, it is the first hotel in Asia to be certified as an eco-friendly five-star hotel. After campaigning for advance locality management, saying no to cut flowers, beach clean-ups and its anti plastic stance and incorporating an architectural design that promotes a green revolution right from its eco-friendly foundation stone, it takes pride in being the world’s only ‘ecotel’ to be certified with the ISO 14001.</div><div><br /></div><div>Most eco-hotels and resorts fall in the four to five star category. <a href="http://www.barefootindia.com/">Barefoot at Havelock</a>, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is rated by <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk">The Guardian - UK</a> as one of the 30 best green places to stay in the world and The Dune EcoVillage & Spa - Pondicherry is an internationally known eco-destination.</div><div><br /></div><div>The very fact that there are eco Web sites for travellers to India with plenty of options for eco-tours, eco-activities, eco-packages and eco-resorts is proof of the growing curiosity among travellers for eco-friendly tours. There are many hotels that fall in category that focus on promoting nature and its pleasures by setting up recycled wooden cottages amidst the greens, organising nature trails or forest camps, encouraging bird watching and eco-adventure activities such as trekking and white water rafting.</div><div><br /></div><div>National Parks and sanctuaries that house resorts are popular options. Camel safaris in Rajasthan and houseboat cruises in backwaters of <a href="http://southindiantour.blogspot.com/2009/10/kerala.html">Kerala</a> are a few.</div><div> </div><div>The marketing strategy of these properties is simple as Once the eco tag is included, it attracts those who believe in the concept of responsible tourism.</div>Shaji Palolliyilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10265424326623627905noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4488385117787048372.post-35223858618996632432009-11-12T00:41:00.000-08:002010-10-23T22:59:08.684-07:00Tamil Nadu<div>Tamil Nadu is located along the south eastern coast of India.
